One study found that caregivers don’t sleep enough or well enough. This same study found that if you are older, male, overloaded, and depressed that your sleep suffers even more. This study spoke to me because my dad was in hospice for 5 months and I took was sleeping less. I was also waking up early.
Sleep Tip #27: Take the edge out of caregiver stress by seeking support and welcoming help. Give yourself permission to:
- Negotiate tasks with others to lighten your load.
- Connect with a trusted person to share your feelings.
- Allow yourself to be helped by others.
