Positive affect helps you cope with difficult situations. Individuals high in positive affect tend to be happier, more successful in life, and enjoy better relationships. Positive affect is reduced during chronic and acute sleep loss. Don’t fool yourself by thinking that if you “sleep in” that you’ll be able to maintain positive affect. Not true.
